1. So why Sun Off a Beach? What’s the story behind the name?
While working with another US sun care brand years ago, I often wondered why we kept having to rely on other countries for certain products when we could do it just as good or even better. Then 2 years ago, I began to explore the possibilities of creating our own brand. With the knowledge I had grasped, I teamed up with a R&D group to develop our own unique product line. While sourcing was difficult, we absolute sure that the ingredients were the finest especially our exhilarating French fragrances.
Sun Off A Beach popped in my head one day. I wanted a fun catchy name that would stick in your minds and make your curiosity peek and let it stand out on the shelves. I think the bright colors helped too. It’s a play on words and you can’t help but take a moment and see the humorous side in the name. The best part is seeing the reaction when the name is uttered or shouted, “SUN OFF A BEACH”. All is good fun!
With an memorable name, we work tirelessly to provide quality sunblocks from Sports, Kids, Anti Aging to Sensitive.
2. What’s the biggest reason you decided to venture out into making non harmful chemical based sunblocks?
Skin is the largest organ for humans and we absorb 60% of what we put on our skin, kids 40% more than adults. Studies have shown that toxic chemicals in skin care products can cause health issues from minor skin allergies to birth defect to cancer. As a responsible product developer, we made sure that we excluded all the harmful chemical that is made known til now so that it is safe for everyone.
3. What could you say is the biggest dangers in using none environmentally friendly sunblock in the environment?
Some sun block chemicals are harmful to our health but Sun Off A Beach sunblock is a reef friendly and safe mineral based with Titanium Dioxide. While out by the beach, coral safe sunblock should used to avoid affecting aquatic life, some of the common ingredients used in sunblock can cause coral bleaching. Watch out for Oxybenzone, Butylparaben, Octinoxate and 4-methylbenzylidene camphor. Up to 10% of the world’s coral reefs may be threatened by sunblock induced coral bleaching.
